We bring Colombian coffee direct from the farm to the UK

Sabor Coffee is a speciality importer, with deep roots in the rural heart of the coffee region of Colombia, serving customers in the UK. I grew up in Quinchia, Risaralda, then moved to London initially to study, and then to work in the food and drink business. Coffee is in my blood, my parents and grandparents were coffee farmers and every year I still visit the farm, Finca Las Cruces, which has been in the family for more than 70 years.

As well as bringing coffee from our own farm, we now buy coffee directly from small-scale farmers whom we know and admire, and we bring it ourselves to the UK. We pay good prices to our friends and neighbours in the coffee region, and build long-term and loyal partnerships, helping to make coffee farming financially sustainable.  Check out our current offerings here, and help us to support these farms producing excellent coffee.

Our Story

I moved to London in 1992, where I have lived ever since. In London I ran my own restaurant showcasing modern Latin American cuisine from 2004 to 2012, and I’ve been delivering high-end catering and events for many years. At the same time I have been managing the family coffee farm, Finca Las Cruces, with annual visits to check on progress and oversee changes. Our sister Liliana is in charge of the daily running of the farm.

My professional experience within the London restaurant scene, where the speciality coffee culture has blossomed, inspired me to modify how we run the family farm. We embraced changes to our working practices so that now all our processes, from cultivation through harvesting, processing to drying are entirely organic and sustainable.

As a family we believe that in life nothing has meaning unless you put passion into it. In our case our passion is for the production of an excellent quality coffee which showcases the flavour of this region. For many years we produced coffee to sell to the local coffee federation, but in 2021 we were really encouraged by the very high scores we were getting in sample tastings to bring our coffee more directly to the international market as a single origin denomination. We are now working on the fermentation process to improve the flavour even further.

Since 2021 we have been bringing coffee from Finca Las Cruces directly to the UK. More recently we have started to bring coffee from other farms in the area, carefully selected for the quality of their coffee and the integrity and sustainability of their farming practices. We work together to help maintain a thriving agricultural economy based on coffee in rural Colombia.

International Women's Day 2024
25 Feb, 2022
The 2021 harvest was a good one at Finca Las Cruces , and we’re celebrating it with a special edition of beans selected from one of our parents’ favourite plots, Los Nogales. Our mother likes it as the terrain is undulating, it is close to the farm house, and it has rich soil. Our father planted Nogales (walnut trees) that are good for woodwork, as well as fruit trees like avocados, papaya, and guanabanas. This shady plot gives an excellent cup scoring 86 SCA points. We’ve dedicated this special edition to our mother Ruby, who turned 80 in 2021. It is a celebration of her contribution to the coffee culture, working and supporting for more than 70 years her father, brothers, husband and sons in the running of the farm. The role of women in the coffee industry has been overlooked but their contribution has been huge, like Ruby, who got up at 2am to go to remote fields to cook for workers that were opening fields to be planted with coffee for the first time, as well helping in the picking, working in washing stations, sundrying the coffee, removing defects and lots of hard work and passion. We celebrate you our Chapoleras and thank you for all your care and support. This edition was also roasted in Quinchia, by our friends from Apecafeq in Quinchia mainly run by talented women.
