Apecafeq

We are delighted to have a partnership with the Asociación de Pequeños Caficultores de Quinchia (APECAFEQ), whose high-quality coffee we are now bringing direct to the UK for the first time.  The 2023 main harvest, which landed in the UK in March 2024, has an SCA score of 84.25, with flavours of honey, lemon, green apple and walnut.

APECAFEQ (asociacion de pequenos productores de café Quinchia)is the coffee Co-op of Quinchía, in Colombia’s ‘Coffee Triangle’.

APECAFEQ Co-op was founded by 32 small coffee farmers in 1994 and today represents 413 farmers around Quinchía, covering an area of around 870 hectare, each holding on average just 1.5 Hectares per family farm. Through functioning as a collective, APECAFEQ supports the interests of its farmers and profits are also allocated across social programs such as improved agricultural practices, protection of the environment and preservation of water reserves.

This coffee is a single origin. Varietals are Caturra & Castillo.  The coffee is very fruity, particularly sweet with aromas of fragrant flowers and caramel. Great for Chemex, French Press, among others.

We had a long-standing admiration of and relation with Apecafeq since its beginning. They want to move forward with the coffee, to improve quality. 27 of the members now produce certified organic coffee. And they work with special lots, so that it can always be traced where the coffee comes from, which is very important for us. We aim to help Apecafeq to find a better market for its coffee and this way make a bigger social impact to all its members.
